Прѝщина е най-големият град, административен център на Прищински окръг, и столица на обявилата независимост през 2008 г. Република Косово или според резолюция № 1244 на ООН – Автономен окръг Косово в състава на Сърбия с малко над 200 000 души население.

Република Косово със столица Прищина е частично призната държава на Балканския полуостров и Европа. Граничи на север, изток и северозапад със Сърбия, на запад с Черна гора, на юг със Северна Македония и на югозапад с Албания.

До 17 февруари 2008 г. Косово юридически е автономна област в състава на Република Сърбия, макар фактически областта да не е под контрола на сръбското правителство от 1999 г. Формално Косово е част от Сърбия, но след Косовската война се управлява като протекторат на ООН. През ноември 2006 г. в Сърбия се провежда референдум за нова конституция на републиката, според която Косово остава автономна област, но с по-широка автономия. Това е отхвърлено от предимно албанското население, което не участва в референдума.

Pristina is the capital and largest city of Kosovo. It is the administrative center of the homonymous municipality and district.

In antiquity, the area of Pristina was part of the Dardanian kingdom. The heritage of the classical era is represented by the settlement of Ulpiana, considered one of the most influential Roman cities in the Balkan Peninsula. After the Roman Empire was divided into a western and an eastern half, the area remained within the Byzantine Empire between the 5th and 9th centuries. In the middle of the 9th century, it was ceded to the First Bulgarian Empire, before falling again under Byzantine occupation in the early 11th century and then in the late 11th century to the Second Bulgarian Empire.

Kosovo, officially the Republic of Kosovo (Albanian: Republika e Kosovës; Serbian: Република Косово, romanized: Republika Kosovo) is a landlocked country in Southeast Europe with partial diplomatic recognition. It lies in the center of the Balkans. It unilaterally declared its independence from Serbia on 17 February 2008 and has since gained diplomatic recognition as a sovereign state by 101 member states of the United Nations. It is bordered by Serbia to the north and east, North Macedonia to the southeast, Albania to the southwest, and Montenegro to the west. Most of central Kosovo is dominated by the vast plains and fields of the Metohija and Kosovo area. The Accursed Mountains and Šar Mountains rise in the southwest and southeast. Its capital and largest city is Pristina.
